If you are looking to take a day trip out of Ogunquit, you have many options. One option is to hop in your car and drive 70 miles south on Interstate 95 until you hit a little town called Boston, Massachusetts. There, you could go for the more touristy things, such as Plymouth Rock, the Freedom Trail, the Boston Aquarium, a Red Sox game, or visit the campus of Harvard University.
Or, you could go off the beaten path and visit Walden Pond. If you are looking for a peaceful walk, a nippy-cold lake, and the location where a smart man thought a lot about life, then Walden Pond is the place for you.
Another place that is off the beaten path is the Dracula Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. Hokey? Yes. Different? Absolutely. After you’ve visited the museum, you can buy yourself a tall glass of cranberry juice and try not to be too spooked out.
If you are into rocks that used to look like old men, you should travel to where Old Man in the Mountain used to be before it fell off. The old man look-alike rock face was famous in New Hampshire; this natural rock feature graces car plates and highway signs. As you can imagine, not many people are visiting the tourist site now, but you might find it interesting to see the rocky aftermath of the Old Man's demise.
